Something we should crow about!
Why is this web site necessary?
This writer has been RVing some 35 years, now in my 5th RV unit. Although the prestige factor of owning an RV has risen over the years, to many of the uninitiated, RVers still belong to a class of "gypsies and carnival workers." This perception is in contrast to the sports of hunting and fishing which have earned higher levels of public acceptance, especially in Louisiana. Known as "The Sportsman's Paradise." Our mission here is to educate the Baton Rouge public about the RV life in Louisiana and the benefits it brings to Louisiana as a whole, and to Baton Rouge in particular.
And this education about the RV life style is important. It is an unfortunate fact, almost a governmental crime, that Baton Rouge lacks any quality RV parks let alone any RV resorts. We are the capital city, with a wealth of tourist attractions. Yet, were is an RVer to stay? How are they to enjoy what we have to offer them? Almost without exception, the answers are negative.
Yet, can we only place the "blame" on our local leaders for the lack of RV facilities in the Baton Rouge area. As RVers, have we asked or demanded for those RV facilities? Is there unity among RVers in Baton Rouge? Who is appearing before the various Baton Rouge governmental bodies that should be encouraging the RV life in our area? At the present time. No one. RVing is a wonderful social and outdoor activity and needs to come to Baton Rouge. Yet, if the RV life in Louisiana is shunned by our city political process, we need to stand up and fight for our RV lifestyle. That means getting organized and staying organized.
Baton Rouge is part of the RVLouisiana Alliance. It operates not to disrupt any existing recreactional groups, clubs, and the like. Its mission is to act as a focal organizing force to promote and protect the RV lifestyle in Louisiana.
Will you help? Sign on as a booster. That way we can stay in touch with you.
